MDR 4 – Divorce By Any Cause

I divorce you sms1In these “electronic days”, some have discovered new avenues for divorce, for example a man from Dubai who divorced from his wife through sms. In Islamic Sharia law, it is possible to be divorced by either orally or bytext saying – “I divorce you” – three times, and no other reason is needed to be given. This opportunity is only for men and not for women. This not only seems to be a simple and unfair way to divorce, but in fact is. We wouldn’t find any of this kind of simple divorce-practice in the Bible … or? Actually, we can find an equally simple practice being used and discussed in the Bible too!  Continue reading MDR 4 – Divorce By Any Cause

New Creation and The New Jerusalem

Eschatology is about time

It have been a long time since I posted something her at my english blog, actually 4 1/2 month since last time. Despite of my lack of posting, both here and on my Norwegian blog, it have come some comments on some of my post. Those post have obvious interested some people more than other post.

One of the post I wrote a while back ago, regarding the Bride and the New Jerusalem which is a part of the blog-series I have about Revelation of John. Not unexpected and very pleasant, there have been questions about these things. It is not entirely unexpected comments from close friends who are “millennial-believers” (dispensationism) and who wish me back to the prokrust-bed. What I have to say is that I’m finished customizing the Scripture and the prophecies to my size of bed, but I think it might be helpful to write a bit more regarding the Bride, the New Jerusalem and New Heaven and New Earth. It may help both, me and you.

Israel – Interpretation and Abraham Covenant

Jupp, I’m back on the blog as I have missed. There has been some hectic day here in the Philippines from establishing some money to give out Bibles to new believers (who do not have Bibles) to speak at La Salle University in Manila who took a lot of preparation and a helping hand to a “small” pastor, (which is larger than Most pastors I’ve met), near Manila landfill. And in between, and also important — an introvert also need to have some time to recharge the social batteries too.

Previous post regarding Israel Israel – Carnal or Spiritual? , if the hope of Israel was spiritual or carnal, and although many answers should be obvious already, is it still some Christians who do carnal works to promote what they believe in, namely that Israel as a state today is promised by God to the Jews, and that “their presence in their ancient land is a reminder to us of God’s faithfulness to his promises that are fulfilled before our eyes.” [Quoted from the introduction of a Norwegian book “The Dream of Messiah,” by David Østby and Joseph Østby]. Revelation pt. 12 – Summary

Many calories has been eaten and burn since I last posted a post here, but I haven’t disappear totally. The reason for the long time is time… more specific lack of time. I have been in Norway and many other stuff have been going around, but I’m here.

We have went through 11 parts of the series of Revelation of John and are now come to an end. Since I like a series of 12 part better than 11, I want to end the series nicely  with a summary, so lets start.

Revelation pt. 8 – Hail Of An Talent.

“And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.” (Rev. 16:17-21).

Under God’s wrath in the seventh bowl of Revelation. 16, which continues to unfold the events of the year 70, we are witnessed an even more dramatic evidence of the first century fulfillment. There are two characteristics that appear here. One is that the city is divided into three and the other one is the big hail that fell from the sky.

Revelation pt. 6 – “Another Beast”

“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.” (Rev. 13:11).

You have now been shown two characters in Revelation, namely, the harlot and the beast who came up out of the sea (Revelation 13:1, 2, 11). But John also saw another animal who came up from the earth, it had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. There are actually two animals we are dealing with in Revelation. So lets look at this another animal from land. Continue reading Revelation pt. 6 – “Another Beast”

Revelation pt. 4 – Babylon the Great

“And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.” (Rev. 11:8).

I flinched, it was like some thrown a bucket of ice water over me and I froze. I looked down in the Bible and read the verse again … «Yes, it is actually there,» I said to myself. I turn the pages frantically until I find a confirmation. «Yes, there it says …» “And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” The Holly Spirit shaken me vigorously and it was as if you had thrown rocks at the kitchen window and freezes when the window shatters and you realize you’ve done something wrong.

Revelation pt. 3 – The Harlot

In part two (previous post), I explained a bit about the people who receive this letter (Revelation), and I will therefore skip over chapters 2 and 3. But before we go any further, I will get into the legal aspect, why this judgment was coming and who’s guilty.

In the Old Testament (OT) Israel is portrayed as God’s wife, which is well known among Christians. A few verses from the Old Testament, among others, confirms this:

“For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.” (Isa. 54:5)

“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:” (Jer. 31:31-32)

Revelation pt. 2 – Coming On The Clouds

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

I will offer this entire post on just this verse. I will probably not do it for every single verse in this series, that will take forever, but stop a bit in places where it can give us some information on the misperception that many have and gives us a better understanding of the Revelation.

As mentioned in my previously post, we were told early in verse 1 that the vision appears to John through the vision, and here, in verse 7 we find the “language” imagery in the book. …so how can He surf on a cloud? Continue reading!

Revelation pt.1 – How To Read Johns Letter

Previous post was about the many thoughts that have accumulated after walking trough history and the Bible by the seams, and what is left with the question after all the doomsday prophecy that swirl around and has never been fulfilled. The churches that can be strong in these prophecies is often the churches that have the strongest ties and interest of being Israel supporters, but I do not go into it now.

I have also said I’ll write about the Book of Revelation, which I both dread and look forward to. Ironically enough, the most difficult book of the Bible is called “Revelation”.

It can be difficult to understand the Book of Revelation, but if you enter the book with the right mind without already embedded obstacles and sharp curves that old learning tends to do, things can get a bit simpler.

“Men like the opinions that they have been accustomed from their youth, they defend them, and shuns the opposite views, and this is one of the things that prevent men from finding the truth, for they cling to the opinion of the habit.”
